March 23, 2005 – Pharmanex was recently honored by the Nutrition Business Journal (NBJ) by winning the Gold Award for the Growth in Large Companies category and by receiving the Product Merit Award for the Pharmanex® BioPhotonic Scanner. The awards were announced in the journal's recent annual awards issue. These awards, known as a "Best in Industry" further recognize Pharmanex as an industry leader in product development and business strength.
"The Nutrition Business Journal is a credible publication and its awards program is esteemed as a 'Best in Industry' display of nutritional companies," said Dr. Joe Chang, president of Pharmanex. "We are very pleased to be recognized for our 2004 achievements in this way."
Pharmanex won the Gold Award for growing sales 20% in its last four quarters to $540 million worldwide. The article noted the dramatic effect the Pharmanex® BioPhotonic Scanner has had on revenue.
"Contributing strongly to sales was the introduction of its BioScan Program, which uses the BioPhotonic Scanner to measure carotenoid antioxidant levels in the skin," said NBJ in the article announcing the award. "In the third quarter of 2004 in the United States, where the Scanner has mostly been introduced, Pharmanex supplement sales were up 43% at a time when many U.S. network marketing companies have been posting flat domestic sales and focusing on international growth."
Product Merit Award Pharmanex won the Product Merit Award for the Pharmanex® BioPhotonic Scanner, which provides distributors and consumers with a way to measure the level of carotenoids in the skin.
According to NBJ, "The Scanner is designed to measure carotenoid antioxidant levels in the skin, which corresponds well with other antioxidants such as vitamins C and E, according to Pharmanex. The Scanner boosted LifePak supplement sales in the U.S. by 84% from its launch in February 2003 through December 2004."
The article went on to discuss recent substantiation of the Scanner stating, "A recent clinical study published by the American College of Nutrition showed that the Scanner is a more reliable measurement of carotenoid antioxidant status than conventional blood serum methods."
