Brigham Young University Athletics
There is an expectation of greatness at BYU for each and every one of its sports programs. The BYU Athletic Department has established a tradition of excellence and strives for success in all of its 21 varsity sports. The BYU Athletic Department consistently ranks among the nation's top 25 athletic departments in the nation, according to the NACDA Director's Cup standings, which measures the overall performance of athletic departments. With nine NCAA National Championships, BYU has earned national recognition for athletic excellence, mostly due to its 843 All-Americans and 265 conference championships. During the 2002-03 academic year, BYU student-athletes earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.08. A total of 173 athletes were named Academic All-Conference and 10 were named All-American. From 1962 to 1999, BYU dominated the Western Athletic Conference, winning more than 60 percent of the Conference Championships. In the four-year history of the Mountain West Conference, the Cougars continue to dominate, having won 45 of 76 conference titles. Last season, BYU finished with 10 of 20 conference championships, earning its fourth NCAA Championship in women's cross country and a 2nd-place NCAA finish in men's volleyball. BYU includes Pharmanex in its formula for fostering greatness in athletics. "We expect the best out of our student athletes at BYU, so it is natural that we provide them with the very best amenities available—including dietary supplements," says Peter Pilling, Sr. Associate Athletic Director for BYU. "Pharmanex products provide our student athletes with the nutrition they need to perform optimally while reducing the risk for injury. Our Pharmanex sponsorship is also helpful in our recruiting efforts." Part of the new strength and conditioning center at BYU includes a Pharmanex® product station where athletes are able to take Pharmanex® products such as LifePak, CordyMax® Cs-4®, MarineOmega, and Cortitrol Stress Control Formula, as well as mix up a Pharmanex® TrimShake before and after workouts. Pharmanex wishes BYU success in the 2004-2005 season. |
