A study published yesterday in the rapid access issue of The Journal of the American Heart Association investigated which antioxidants in fruits, vegetables, and dietary antioxidant supplements might have a positive effect on heart health.
Researchers measured levels of antioxidants, including carotenoids (vitamin A family, including alpha-carotene, beta-carotene, lycopene, lutein and beta-cryptoxanthin) and tocopherols (vitamin E). The results of this study support a diet high in fruits and vegetables, and the consumption of antioxidant supplements, to increase heart-health.
